Radyr Sixth Form 

Entry Requirements

 

Students wishing to join the Sixth Form at Radyr are required to have achieved a minimum of 6 GCSE passes at grade C or above.

For most subjects a ‘C’ grade at GCSE is required as a minimum entry requirement however there are some cases in which all the evidence points to the need for a ‘B’ grade starting point in order to give a reasonable chance of success.

Our departmental staff are immensely experienced when it comes to advising students about subject choices. Where they advise that it would be unwise to start an AS course with only a ‘C’ grade GCSE in the relevant subject, this advice should be taken very seriously indeed.

 

If the number of applicants exceeds places available, preference will be given to students achieving A*, A and B grades. If some, but not all, of the ‘C’ grade candidates can be admitted then those selected for the course will be those deemed, on the basis of professional judgement by the department, as most able to cope with and benefit from higher level study.
